The James Emery Neo Trio (aka JENT) featuring guitarist/composer James Emery, saxophonist Chris Jonas and bassist Cyrus Campbell, performs original music from the modern jazz tradition coupled with contemporary music characterized by “creative solos, tasteful ensemble improvising, substantive original compositions, energetic playing, and charismatic, vividly picturesque compositions.”

Called “one of the world’s finest guitarists” by AllAboutJazz.com, James Emery is the co-founder of the chamber ensemble, The String Trio of New York and a virtuoso guitarist and composer who has received international recognition for his distinctive and highly original approach to both improvisation and composition.

Chris Jonas is a multi-arts composer, saxophonist, conductor, filmmaker and producer who works worldwide on collaborative projects in musical ensembles, documentary and experimental films, stage performances and in a wide variety of other media. The recipient of the United States Artist Award in 2008, Jonas has worked with composer Anthony Braxton for the past 30 years, performing in festivals and major arts venues worldwide and has recorded over 75 albums, performing with many of new music's most adventurous artists, including Cecil Taylor, William Parker's Little Huey Creative Music Orchestra, Butch Morris and many others.

Cyrus Campbell excelled at the Berklee College of Music where he studied performance and composition with luminaries like Bob Gulloti, John Lockwood, Ralph Peterson, Kenny Werner, and many other others. After graduating, he spent time in California playing in the Bay Area where he recorded saxophonist Eric Nakanishi’s album Breakout. He has since returned to Santa Fe and become a prominent figure in the improvised music scene, including performing frequently at Club Legato with Alex Murzyn, Bob Fox, and John Trentacosta.
